The Midwest Region USCJ & CHUSY Region USY are coordinating a volunteer opportunity for members of the region on Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Monday, January 18, 2010. We are working with City Year and will be volunteering our time in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago.

More than 30 teens and adults from our congregations participated in this program last year helping to paint classrooms at Sherwood School. This is a great intergenerational project and we hope you will join us.

This program will connect us as Conservative Jews and together we will help our greater community. It promises to be a very rewarding experience for all.

Shalom and welcome to the new and improved Midwest Region USCJ website. This user-friendly site includes new resource material, links to other useful websites, candle lighting times, program updates, links to our Facebook group and much more. Our interactive map also serves as a tool for anyone looking for a synagogue. The Midwest Region is grateful to the Council of Regional Presidents for a grant to cover the expense of this enterprise.

The website will be updated and enhanced frequently. Please feel free to send us events to post on our community calendar. Equally important, please send your feedback to me at krule@uscj.org.

The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism has a vast array of services and programs available to our congregations to assist in serving their congregants and communities. I have the privilege to serve as director of the Midwest Region and I am most eager to work closely with our congregations in order to further this important work and our many projects and initiatives. One of my goals is to serve as a resource to you and to assist in building a stronger Conservative community in the Midwest Region.

Serving Our Youth

It is my privilege to serve as the Director of Youth Activities for CHUSY Region. As a CHUSY alumna, I am honored to be able to work with the region and congregations and be able to give back for all that I gained while in USY and Kadima.

CHUSY Region offers several amazing programs throughout the year, from our week-long encampment at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin, CHUSY conventions and Shabbatonim to day-long programs and activities for each age group. For more up-to-date information on each of our programs, please explore our website at www.chusy.org.

Beyond the regional programs that we offer, we are here to be a partner with and support our congregation’s youth programs. The youth are our future, and I would be happy to help in any way I can to help get the youth in your congregation involved. Please feel free to contact me!

How Jews Study: Great Stories from the Talmud
Monday evenings, November 2nd, 9th, and 16th, 2009
